The herb that got my friend hired...

Through word of mouth my friend Jeannie heard that a woman was in search of a caretaker and had not found anyone suitable yet. It seems the applicants needed to go tp two screenings; one with the patient and one with her cat. Jeannie is well qualified to take care of patients and has excellent credentials. She had no doubt she could perform her duties but she also had to get past the persnickety cat. No one had been able to do this yet. The dear elderly lady was very attached to her cat so it was important that her caretaker be able to get along with her too.

Jeannie is resourceful.

A large percentage of cats are crazy about catnip, so Jeannie took some catnip and carefully placed it in the cuffs of her pants. The patient, while interviewing Jeannie was amazed at her cat's interest in Jeannie and hired her on the spot. After a lengthy illness during which Jeannie kept her patient as comfortable as possible; she lost her patient and friend but gained another friend. The family insisted she take Muffin home with her and the big gray cat still resides with Jeannie, her husband Todd, and two other cats on their chicken farm.

Catnip is good for cats and us too.

Long fascinated by the allure of catnip and it's chemical properties I decided to research it from two perspectives. In my mind's eye I picture a cat and a human wrestling over catnip; maybe Jon and Garfield. Jon would want the catnip because he had a tough day and needed to relax, Garfield would be going out on a date :-)! Whose need would take precedence? Garfield's, of course.

All jokes aside, catnip has many properties we need to be aware of and can be of much benefit to us. For more about catnip read:

Why are Cats Crazy about Catnip?

Why Catnip is not just for Cats

You will find there are more than a dozen Phytochemicals and nutrients in catnip providing much in the way of alternative health. So don't give all the cat nip to the cats. Save some for yourself.

Take care and stay well.

That was very resourceful of Jeannie, good for her. Really good information on the catnip.

I bought some at the local farmers' market a couple of months ago but my cat, Miss Cindi, doesn't seem to care about it. Next time I will use it for tea.

Judy, thanks for the visit. Jeannie is resourceful. She is always amazing me with the things she thinks of.

Did you try bruising the cat nip so Miss Cindi could smell it? Not all cats are crazy about cat nip, but most are. No need to throw it out though. It's good for us too.

Take care & God bless.

Blessings to you,

I like the way your friend thinks, Judy. That was a great way to get along better with the cat. It's also nice how she made a new friend in the cat.
