What is Christmas without Christ?

Politically correct may not be correct!

While working in retail I was instructed to tell customers “Happy Holidays” so as not to offend anyone. Signs are posted every where stating “Merry Xmas”. Jesus told us that we can only serve one master, and this may be one of these times. I refuse to say Happy Holidays or shorten Christmas to Xmas. What is Christmas without Christ? If I worry about offending those who prefer not to believe in Christ, but do not worry about what is right, where am I?

While walking through some of our larger stores in town I was disappointed. None of them had a nativity. Have we lost sight of the meaning of Christmas? Here are pictures of some of things I saw displayed this weekend.

Put Christ Back in Christmas!

Three wise men came traveling from afar
Their only guidance from a star
Shining brightly for the world to see
The tiny babe, God’s gift to you and me

There was no other gift dearer to His heart
Than that of His son, that He could impart
He let us know Him by His word and deed
Then we come to Him complaining with greed

Wanting money to buy for people on our list
Acting as if the Christ child never did exist
It must hurt Him to see us act this way
At least say “Merry Christmas” upon Christmas day!!

Baby Jesus was not on display.
I looked and looked for Him today,
I couldn't find Him at the shopping mart
Thankfully He holds a place within my heart

This is well done, Judy. It is a shame that more people don't have the Christmas spirit. I always tell people Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.

CA, thanks for your visit. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

I love Christmas and I tend to spread the cheer to all that are open to it. However historically, Christmas is a pagan holiday and many people don't know that. That's a historical fact.

Yes, I am aware of that and have to argue the fact with some who attend churches that do not celebrate Christmas because of the question of when the actual day was or the surrounding origin as you mentioned but I know Christ was born and having no other day specified, I do my best to remember (not that I don't any other day) Him and then celebrate by giving lovingly as His father did. Never have we had a greater gift given to us. Is the date that important?

The Ancient Digger November 16, 2009 8:36 PM

Judy the date is of no importance to tell you the truth. However in my case, and I'm sure you can understand where I'm coming from, dates are a way of life for me. It's tiresome to tell you the truth, to place things in a certain niche.

Blessings
