Thankful Thursday - Cooks Night Off

I got a chuckle out of a comic I saw the other day. The wife is standing in front of the husband wearing an apron over her house dress with her hand over her face with an exaggerated "oh my!" look.

She states to her husband:
"What a coincidence! You forgot my birthday and I forgot how to cook!" - Unger

Very few women stay at home any more and just cook and clean, not to say that this is easy by any means. Most of us are trying to balance a whole range of chores simultaneously and this is after putting in a full day at work. Those who are not employed find themselves balancing an equally hectic schedule because they cannot excuse themselves from certain duties by claiming a conflict of hours due to work responsibilities.

They have to try to budget their income and their time, and face it, I know of no woman who does not have her plate full, and I am not talking about her dinner plate. :-) My husband does not cook, but sometimes he takes me out to eat, and when he does I am very thankful.

Yesterday I was so stressed with paperwork for my taxes and my oldest son's rental properties that I was about to pull my hair out. My youngest son called, heard the stress in my voice and invited me over to spend a few hours watching a movie with him and his girl. Because of this I completely forgot that it was Tuesday evening and never posted my pictures. I had them all lined up but forgot to post them. I am so sorry to have forgotten.

Now it is Thursday, March 25. I still don't have our taxes completed. I spent my entire half hour for lunch on the phone with the mortgage company about a 1098 or 1099 and finally got that straightened out in time to punch back in without eating.

Work was crazy too, and I thought I would have to cook tonight, but my husband took me out to eat at one of our favorite Chinese restaurants. Here you can eat in (smorgasbord)or take out. To take out they charge per pound. He can eat the meats he loves and I can eat lots of vegetables, which I love. And there are no dishes to wash!!

My fortune cookie says "Soon someone will make you very proud." Hmm....

I'm not working right now but when I did it was always a balancing act. Eating out was rare back then because I traveled so much and our hours were a little different.

Even now I never seem to have enough hours in the day.

Judy, it seems I am always robbing my "sleep bank" to get everything done, and that never works out well, :-) because then I am not working up to speed.

Thanks so much for your visit. Take care & God bless.
