Outdoor Wednesday - Milkweed

I came across several milkweed plants bordering our church parking lot a few months ago. The sweet fragrance was amazing and had drawn several butterflies and bees, and me. :-)
The wind was somewhat fierce that day and I ended up deleting more pictures than I saved, but the fragrance was oh so tantalizing....

I love the way the dozens of flower buds hang from slender bouncy stems within one blossom, and look at the size of these leaves!

Break open the leaves and you will find they contain a milky substance used to treat warts. The milky substance may not only soften the warts but also inhibit the virus as well with proteolytic enzymes - The Green Pharmacy by James A. Dukes, PhD

These plants also invite the helpful garden pests to your garden. Did you spot a bee and a lady bug?

To share your outdoor shots please join us at Outdoor Wednesday! Take care and God bless!

Is it in the first photo? These are so pretty up close. I think some weeds are the prettiest looking things.

very pretty, and the color is unusual.

Amanda the bee is on the left leaf in the first pic and lady bug on the top right flower in the third photo. The detail is not very good.

It's always amazing that something so beautiful can also be so useful. I do see the bee and ladybug.
