Queen Cookie

If I wanted to take pictures of Ms. Cookie she would disappear but because I am trying to take pictures of some strange plant growing in the smallest of holes in my front step she is rolling and laying on this plant. I have to laugh at Queen Cookie and her capers. She is something else. This post linked to Outdoor Wednesday and  Camera Critters! Please join us for the fun and enjoy the rest of your weekend! God bless!

Yellow with splashes of green

Underneath the yellow curtain, with splashes of green. The softness of the colors makes one feel serene.

Thankful Thursday - Beauty

These photos were all taken the same week end. His beauty is every where and I am very grateful to witness it. I have people shaking and scratching their heads as they see me stopping to take pictures. This is dedicated to them. :-)

Can you spare a moment
There's something you should see
Can you spare a moment
Would you stop with me?

Look at the colored leaves
In shades of red and gold
Aren't the colors pretty
A glory to behold?

God's painted us a sunset
With shadows in the clouds
Clouds so thick like batting
It should attract the crowds...

The clouds are parting slightly
To let the sun shine through
Casting shadows on their bedding
He made them just for you

Hours later  the clouds lift
And the glorious sun remains
Glowing on the water
And a thousand window panes

It shimmers like pure gold
No jewelery could compare
To the glittering golden sunset
He gave us all to share

Yet you scratch your head and wonder
What He ever did for you
You watch someone take pictures
And haven't got a clue

I truly grieve for you my brother
When I take you by the hand
To share God's many wonders
And you still don't understand.

Scrubs that are comfortable, stylish and economical

One of my favorite jobs was working in a doctor's office. It was a husband and wife team. As part of the medical staff there I realized I had a position of trust and image was very important. We wore scrubs that were neat, clean and pressed, so I was very impressed by Cherokee uniforms. These uniforms maintained their fresh appearance after a long day of work. My uniform at the doctor's office had to transition to my second job as a third position management person in a pharmacy. I could feel confident in how I looked the entire day.

Doctors scrubs and nurses scrubs maintain their crisp look throughout the day. It was equally important for the doctors I served under as they had to make hospital rounds both before and after their shifts at the office. I never complained about working two jobs because the doctors put in more time than I. Patients had no idea and  no patient wants to look at the staff and feel they are perhaps too worn out to properly care for them. We have to give the impression that we are sharp. It's a matter of confidence and trust.

What if I told you these wholesale scrubs were very comfortable, do not fade, and are wrinkle resistant? I loved that they were wrinkle resistant, because being a single parent of four children and working two jobs, I would prefer to spend time with my children than behind an ironing board. Because they are stain resistant, I could wash them in cold water with the rest of my colored clothes. (I wore the same scrubs for the entire five years I worked there, until the doctor's sold their practice, and they maintained their same vibrant colors.)  I would take them out of the dryer and hang them up immediately. They looked just ironed when I went to put them on. I was truly grateful the doctors insisted we wear scrubs and that I was fortunate enough to find such professional looking ones.

Thankful Thursday - Kneemail

RECALL NOTICE:

The Maker of all human beings (GOD) is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central component of the heart. This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units code named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units. This defect has been technically termed "Sub-sequential Internal Non-Morality," or more commonly known as S.I.N., as it is primarily expressed.

Some of the symptoms include:
1. Loss of direction
2. Foul vocal emissions
3. Amnesia of origin
4. Lack of peace and joy
5. Selfish or violent behavior
6. Depression or confusion in the mental component
7. Fearfulness
8. Idolatry
9. Rebellion

The Manufacturer, who is neither liable nor at fault for this defect, is providing factory-authorized repair and service free of charge to correct this defect.

The Repair Technician, JESUS, has most generously offered to bear the entire burden of the staggering cost of these repairs. There is no additional fee required.

The number to call for repair in all areas is: P-R-A-Y-E-R.
Once connected, please upload your burden of SIN through the REPENTANCE procedure. Next, download ATONEMENT from the Repair Technician, Jesus, into the heart component.

No matter how big or small the SIN defect is, Jesus will replace it with:

1. Love
2. Joy
3. Peace
4. Patience
5. Kindness
6. Goodness
7. Faithfulness
8. Gentleness
9. Self control

Please see the operating manual, the B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) for further details on the use of these fixes.

WARNING: Continuing to operate the human being unit without correction voids any manufacturer warranties, exposing the unit to dangers and problems too numerous to list and will result in the human unit being permanently impounded. For free emergency service, call on Jesus.

DANGER: The human being units not responding to this recall action will have to be scrapped in the furnace. The SIN defect will not be permitted to enter Heaven so as to prevent contamination of that facility. Thank you for your attention!

- GOD

P.S. Please assist where possible by notifying others of this important recall notice, and you may contact the Father any time by 'Knee mail'!

Because He Lives! Praise God and God bless!

The fading red leaves

Did you ever wonder how a leave starts green
Then turns yellow orange and red?

Is it anything you think about?
Does the thought enter your head?

Lately God's mysteries have made me pause and think
Sure there's yellow, orange and red, but now I'm seeing pink!

Join us for Ruby Tuesday and have a great week.
God bless!

A Lovely Saturday

It is November and although I wore my coat today, the sun was out and it was pleasant weather. I enjoyed looking for shadows outside. I found these at my friend, Jeannie's house. Soon I am sure I will be hunting inside. :-)Having lived most my life in Michigan, I realize this may be the last nice Saturday til spring.

Join us for Shadow Shot Sunday and have a fantastic and blessed week!

Thankful Thursday - His Peace

When the work whistle blows
And the day is o'er
There are things to do
Before heading through the door

Got to run some errands
Paying bills and such
Trying to call my friends
Trying to stay in touch

Got to plan dinner
And buy some milk and bread
Then home to make dinner
But we go out instead

With all this running to and fro
I scarce can catch my breath
It's no wonder I am tired
I've run myself to death!

Then God in all His wisdom
Sends His beauty for me to see
Just one look at His artwork
And peace washes over me

Nature by God

Isn't He awesome?

The Sun Makes a Glorious Entry

I pulled into the parking lot at work. It's November in Michigan. That means scraping windows and leaving for work while it is still dark out. As I pulled into the parking lot I quickly grabbed my camera. The sun was making a glorious entry into the sky and I had to have a picture, or two. Once I get to my work station the camera must remain tucked away. I would glance up throughout the morning as the golden glow of the sun reflected on the glass windows of the building across the street. Later on during the same day there was a golden glow as the sun began to set. I had to sit there taking call after call until the glow was gone and darkness set in. Then it was time to go. Enjoy the outdoors when you get a chance, and especially before it gets too cold. Share your outdoor pictures at Outdoor Wednesday. Take care and God bless.

Red leaves like jewels upon the trees

Fall brings crispness to the air
Reds and oranges everywhere
Shining brightly in the trees
Moving quickly in the breeze

I stop and stand neath the canopy
Of this lovely autumn tree
And pray my camera's one with me
In letting you see what I see.

Red, gold, orange and brown
Leaves on the trees,
Leaves on the ground
Berries like pearls dangling free
Oh the beauty of autumn
in a tree.

Food Diaries for a Multitude of Reasons

My husband has been diagnosed with diabetes so we have taken a much stronger interest in carb watching.  I have had a fascination for nutrition for as long as I can remember but now I have even more reason to read labels. What about foods that come from the deli, or without labels, for example this tomato? You won't find a label hiding anywhere on it. :-)

If you are wondering; one medium tomato contains 40% of your minimum daily requirement of vitamin C with 0% fat, saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol. By knowing this, we know we can eat tomatoes without guilt. When we eat, we need to make what we eat count, meaning they should be high on nutrition while low on fat.

A proper diet goes a long way in improving our health and longevity, and I've found a site that will help you maintain a food diary.  Food diaries are helpful for a multitude of reasons. I kept one while trying to pinpoint my migraine triggers. Those with allergies find them particularly useful, and anyone who is trying to eat healthier will find it easier to maintain healthy eating once they track their foods.

There are calculators to help one keep track of calories, carbs, body mass, nutrients, and even burned calories. Type in the food you are curious about and get quick results. With a database of 90,000+ foods, diet, nutrition, fitness, recipes and iphone applications this site would take me a while to familiarize myself  with all the features, but I am sure it would be well worth the time.

This is a free online tool with personal trainers, coupons, diet plans made especially for you; and a place to chart your progress. I was overwhelmed with the help aids here. I typed in Burger King junior whopper and was rewarded with this information:

  • Fat Calories: 42%
  • Carbohydrates Calories: 36%
  • Protein Calories: 21%
With the help of this tool you will have your waist whittled in no time and your health at it's all time best. Let's take the journey to better health.

Take care and God bless.
