Me, a Race Car Driver?

As children my sister and I were instilled with a strong work ethic. Mom worked full time and Dad worked a full time job and many part time jobs.

One of his part time jobs that I found particularly fascinating was pit mechanic. Mom, Jeanne, (my sister), and I got to go down into the pit before the race and see the race cars up close and personal. :-)

In order to make them move faster they were stripped of everything inside but the driver's seat. Doors were welded shut. It was just such an amazing  thing for a child to see! Then came the race. It was hard to sit still and watch the cars speed by. We were standing up and cheering. Something about the races  created such a fascination and excitement in me that for awhile I actually thought I would like to become a   race car  driver.

Then the other day while browsing online I found this incredible site that allows you to live that incredible dream, if only for a few hours. They even offer lessons. Could you imagine me, a race car driver? If you or someone you know would like to experience this incredible dream just once you can visit this  site and they will set it up for you! They also give lessons in defensive driving, a must for any driver now days.

Thanks so much for visiting me today. Take care and God bless!

What an exciting thing to be involved with as a child. You could have been competing against Danica Patrick.

My FIL was a stock car racer for awhile, my hubby was a junior member of the team. I have one photo of him racing one of the cars.

I had a Firebird Formula when I was in my 20's, does that count? The local cops at the time would have said yes!

That sounds exciting, Judy! I only get to watch car racing on the sideline!

We gave my father-in-law this very present a few years ago for his birthday. He enjoyed it immensely.

The very next year he had a heart attack so we did it at the right time, as he can't do that now.

He said it was an incredible feeling.

I have never been to a drag race. That's great that you had the chance to see it and that your dad used to work as a pit mechanic.
