Thankful Thursday ~ Birthdays!

I wish  you could see this funny little daschund dog that sings "I ain't nothing but a hound dog crying all the time"...It lights up and the big floppy ears go up and down. Poor Ani'ale did not know what to think of it. She first looked at the dog, then her father, then me, then at the family dog. Why didn't the family dog sing and why don't his ears keep time to the music? Who knows what goes through the mind of a one year old? My friend, Jeannie gave her the dog for her birthday and we couldn't wait for her birthday celebration this week end to see if she liked it or not. She does.

1. What is your favorite way to celebrate your birthday?

2. Do you tell your age or not?

I have gotten a little behind in my visits. This sweet little girl's family is moving this week and it has been kind of hectic. She has a brand new little sister and everyone is quite busy. Grandma is trying to help here and there.

This post is linked to Amanda's Thursday Two Questions. Thanks so much for your visit. Take care and God bless and if it is your birthday, have a great one!

Just a little nature walk
And what do I see
Pretty little flowers
Saying "look at me!"

Shadows Against my House

How has your week end been going? I have been helping baby girl move and writing as usual. Without writing I think I would go crazy. I just wrote an article about the Russian nesting dolls called matryoshkas: Dolls in Russian History. The workmanship and history of these dolls is fascinating. It is amazing to read how they were created and the part they play in Russian culture.

Thankful Thursday ~ Memories

Our children, our grandchildren...I see them and my heart swells with love. We have created so many special memories. I will not (in my likelihood) leave them anything of substance financially.

1. I have nothing, but what can I leave them that will warm their hearts and cause them to feel better about themselves and life in general? My mother left us and is continuing to give us so many precious memories. I visualize Mom and I get a big grin on my face and I picture her during many different times in our lives always nuturing and giving.

2. Will my children know that my most important accomplishment was having them and them having me? I pray for them and all of you that the wonderful memories never stop. I want to pose my own questions to you. Please visit Amanda's Thursdays Two Questions and let the conversastion begin!

BTW Mem mem took the last photo of her little sister in my lap. She is the second picture.
Sometimes that is all we have and all we need and I can live with that! Love you! Thanks for visiting. Take care and God bless!

Tips to Avoid Getting Sick this Winter

Today the weather was very brisk with just enough chill in the air that my mind wandered to thoughts of snow....
How is your weather? I liked this autumn display I came across and wanted to share it with you along with some tips for staying well this winter: Ways to Get Over that Sore Throat Fast. I am one of those people who completely loses their voice when I get a cold. It starts in the lymph glands then it turns into strep and bronchitis. Several people have it at work right now so I began taking precautionary steps and thankfully do not have it yet! I hope my research can help you and yours stay virus and infection free.

Thanks for visiting me today. This post is linked to Weekend Reflection. Take care, stay healthy,  and God bless!

Let's Find a Cure!

Chris, Mari and I were driving downtown the other day and caught the breast cancer awareness march in full swing. We had beautiful weather and a wonderful turn out for the event. We were quite impressed. They had street vendors selling food and lively music playing with some of the marchers stopping to dance periodically. Police were spread out throughout the city directing traffic.  It was hard not to get caught up in the moment. My future daughter in-law had thought nothing much happened in our quiet little town and she liked the display quite a bit. Granted, it was not hopping like New York but for a moment there it was very upbeat. I know because I spent 16 years there and all four of my children were born there. At first I was exhilarated by the fast pace of NY but soon I yearned for the quiet and my family here. I am sure she is just like I was yearning for the pace of NY and her family there.

She told me that Queens has quite a big turnout for the march also and she enjoyed participating. We all hope that one day a cure is found for breast cancer. http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/ is contributing a dollar to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for each Pink Ribbon scrub hat that is purchased during the month of October. It is a worthy cause and if you are already purchasing medical nursing scrubs this would be such an awesome opportunity to do two good deeds at once.

Thank you for visiting me today. Take care and God bless!

A Perfect Sunny Day

I had to go into work today on my day off as they have provided us with a new tool at work and wanted to train us on it. I left early enough so that while I was out I could enjoy the beautiful weather we had today. It was 75 degrees out! This post linked to weekend reflection and shadow shot Sunday

Thanks so much for your visit today. Take care and God bless.

Small on Size but Big on Color

Whenever I go to visit Mari and Chris I have to stop and visit the flowers that grow along their driveway in their neighbor's yards. She (the neighbor) has kindly granted me permission to take pictures of them, so how can I resist?

Thanks for your visit today. Take care and God bless!

Shadows at the end of day

First of all let me apologize for the red in the photos! Does anyone know how to avoid that?

I was coming home from a visit with Chris and Mari the other night and the sun was blinding. It had been raining off and on and I even spotted a rainbow, which quickly hid behind some clouds. I drove around the block to come back where I could park and get a couple quick shots of the shadows and reflections and maybe catch the illusive rainbow.Well, we don't always get to keep the rainbow. :-)
