Chris, Mari and I were driving downtown the other day and caught the breast cancer awareness march in full swing. We had beautiful weather and a wonderful turn out for the event. We were quite impressed. They had street vendors selling food and lively music playing with some of the marchers stopping to dance periodically. Police were spread out throughout the city directing traffic. It was hard not to get caught up in the moment. My future daughter in-law had thought nothing much happened in our quiet little town and she liked the display quite a bit. Granted, it was not hopping like New York but for a moment there it was very upbeat. I know because I spent 16 years there and all four of my children were born there. At first I was exhilarated by the fast pace of NY but soon I yearned for the quiet and my family here. I am sure she is just like I was yearning for the pace of NY and her family there.
She told me that Queens has quite a big turnout for the march also and she enjoyed participating. We all hope that one day a cure is found for breast cancer. http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/ is contributing a dollar to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for each Pink Ribbon scrub hat that is purchased during the month of October. It is a worthy cause and if you are already purchasing medical nursing scrubs this would be such an awesome opportunity to do two good deeds at once.
Thank you for visiting me today. Take care and God bless!
