Inches above Reality

A reflection of an exact image is the closest thing to you-so that you can see it-but it's far enough away so that you really understand it. There is real life in this movie, but it hovers just an inch above reality.  ~ Wes Bentley

Quote found here.

I have been too busy to take pictures. Really! But I found these in my archives from photos taken last spring.  See the date imprinted on my blog post within the picture? I was sitting under my ceiling fan in my dining room.

Thankful Thursday - Commitment

1) Have you ever been inspired to take on a challenge?

Our minister challenged us to read through the Bible one chapter at a time and then write at least one sentence about that chapter. This would give us our own personal summary of the Bible after we completed it. Sounds simple right? After posting on my blogs from time to time I noticed a feature that allowed one to make a book of their blog so my wandering mind thought that if I placed my Bible summaries on a blog I could publish it when finished. Right? I started off dedicated, committed and did not miss a day but soon my hectic life and family began to squeeze all the minutes out of my days and I got behind; way behind!

2) How do you stay dedicated to your task?

I am so ashamed to say I have not posted in a couple of weeks. I can make tons of excuses, but guilt is eating me up as I want to keep my commitment. I often skip meals and sleep now trying hard to stay up; so there has to be something else I can shift to fit it back in.  I have visited all three new grand babies this week and now Chris and Mari have given me the wonderful news that they are going to have their first baby too. I am planning the baby shower now. It would be wonderful if I could get this Chapter Challenge finished in time for my grands to read. :-) What I find to be the most time consuming in publishing the posts is locating the right illustrations for each chapter.

Thanks so much for your visit. You are truly a treasured part of my day and life. Take care, stay healthy and God bless. This post linked to Thursday two questions. Thanks Amanda for a great meme!!

Hanging Around

My baby boy got his wife flowers
My baby girl got taken to dinner
I was happy for them
Everyone a winner...
I braced myself to be forgotten
But I got a card
It read:

For my wife
Whether we're
Hangin out
Or hangin in
And even when
We're just barely
Hangin on
There's Still
No one else
I'd rather
Hang around with
Than you.
Happy Valentine's Day

he signed it. :-)

Hope you were remembered and remember those you love and who love you this Valentine's day. Take care and God bless.

Dog Sitting

Guest post from: Kent Lara
What in the world am I going to do this summer in Milwaukee? I don't know what I was thinking signed up to dog-sit for my uncle the entire summer. Mostly I was just thinking about the 2,000 dollars he said he would pay me for going and living in his mansion of a house and feeding and walking his beloved dogs for eight weeks. I just couldn't pass that up. Being a college student I really wasn't planning on doing anything special this summer and now I will have extra cash to spend next year and not need to work a part-time job while going to school. That will be such a nice relief! But what will I do for the summer in a town where I know no one and only have dogs to hang out with! Thankfully he has direct tv milwaukee and high speed internet so I will be watching lots of movies and facebooking it up everyday! There should be tons of good movies that I haven't seen yet since I never go to the movies.

Are your Medical Records Accurate?

The entire patient visit is recorded in notes.

Having worked in two separate doctor’s offices in the records department I am very familiar with the work load placed upon a doctor to quickly note the account after seeing a patient prior to seeing the next. His typical day might consist of seeing up to 6 patients an hour. These notes are carefully added to the permanent medical records of the patient and have a huge impact upon their long term care. What if the notes are placed in the wrong chart?

What if the notes are misinterpreted?

Doctors are known for a handwriting that is often difficult to decipher and even if that were not the case mistakes can occur when interpretations are made. I worked very carefully and thoroughly in keeping records straight and was able to assist in the understanding of patient notes on many times. For example one time I overheard the nurse calling to set up an appointment for a patient who had been diagnosed with an “E.D.” The referral was being made with a proctologist, but the patient’s problem had nothing to do with this particular area. He suffered from bulimia; an eating disorder, not from an erectile dysfunction. Because I worked on the entire file and not just one page I had more of the picture than the front desk clerk was looking at.

A better way of record keeping is now available.

Many physicians’ offices are now using modern technology and are maintaining patient files online using Electronic medical Records Software. The office I last worked in sold and closed their practice in 1999 so this came about afterwards, but I can see many advantages to this change. It truly comforts me in what I feel will be a progressive move towards better record keeping in a vital area of our life. Can you imagine if we had sent our patient on an appointment to see a doctor regarding a sexually related problem rather than his eating disorder? His insurance probably would not have paid. He would not have gotten the much needed care he needed, and he would have been embarrassed and lost confidence in our office. We would have been embarrassed too at our error.

My personal physician's office now uses Electronic Medical Records. How about yours?

Thanks so much for your visit today. Take care, stay healthy and God bless.

The Distracting Clouds

If your mind is distracted by a cloud
And it has you thinking out loud
And all other thoughts are fleeing
Of the wonders that you're seeing
Maybe the mortgage isn't paid
Or the dinner isn't made
Or the errands are not run
And the dishes are not done...
But soon the clouds will roll away
It will be the close of day
We have to grab the moment while we can
Because it may never come again...
Nature by God
