What does it take to be a realtor?

Realtors fulfill dreams

A realtor is a very special breed of person

When it comes to real estate the number one word is “competition.” You cannot imagine real estate without competition. The market and the agents are all competing. To be a real estate agent takes patience, passion and pure dedication because keeping an optimistic attitude is essential. First step is to ask yourself why you want to be a real estate agent because this career has its ups and downs. Every realtor must be licensed which requires going to school. You are trained in basic knowledge about the housing market, home values, and properties. Every state has their own rules on the amount of credits realtors are supposed to take before the big test. Some states requires 90 hours session of credit while other may require more. Once you’re done putting in your hours scheduling for the pre-license or license takes place.

You first work with a broker

Upon passing the state exam, the next thing is finding a broker that will take you under their wing. The broker molds you in and fills you in on the live action of how everything is going to operate. Working with the broker is like being at an internship but with a slight difference as you get paid for the work you do. The broker also provides you with your first list then later on you will make your own listings. Using the brokers listing means you will also be sharing your commissions. Every sale or rental you make your broker may get half of what you earn, keep in mind ever broker is different so percentages may vary.

A realtor is a small business owner.

Remember being a realtor is having your own business, a small one and it is a work in progress. Real estate can be very hard due to the competition out there and also because it is a commission based business. Sometimes you’re on top and at times things are slow, this is why at times people tend to be a realtor on the side prior to having a set salary or hourly job, holding on to their primary job. Realtors can make very good money, but not without hard work and tremendous people skills. A good realtor matches homes to people and makes dreams come true.

Enthusiasm and eagerness are essential.

While looking at Denver Colorado real estate you get the sense that these realtors are not interns, but are seasoned real estate agents. You can sense their enthusiasm and eagerness to assist at Denver real estate. It is easy to get an idea of what real estate is all about and decide whether you would like to make your journey into the world of being a realtor.

Thankful Thursday - Identification cards

Presenting your identification card

Have you ever given any thought to your identification cards, I mean really thought about them?
I received my first identification card, other than a social security card, when I joined the military at the age of 18. Our pictures and fingerprints were placed on our cards in an assembly line fashion, as the enlistees lined up, posed in front of the id cameras and were fingerprinted. Certain information was required from us, which was transferred to our cards, printed on the plastic ID card printers and then it was official. We were identified as enlisted personnel on our new military identification cards.

I did not yet have a driver’s license or a secretary of state identification card, but I had an identification card which I was proud to carry proving that I was a part of the United States Women’s Army Corps. It entitled me to discounts at the px, to be seen at sick bay, it helped me identify myself to get my pay check and to cash it, and it helped me to get discount rates to fly home on military standby when I was granted a leave.
This is just one form of identification. There are many and if not safeguarded, your identification card in the wrong hands can throw your world into a tail spin. Lack of identification can mean no access to many needed programs, rights and privileges. Ask anyone who has ever had their purse or wallet stolen, or been in a house fire or similar tragedy. They cannot apply for housing, emergency assistance, employment, or even prove who they are.

  1. Have you ever lost your id and what did you do? I had my compromised, and the first thing you want to do is report it to the police, your financial institution, and call Equifax!
  2. Are you careful to safeguard your information against identity theft/fraud?

We're having a baby!

In two short months we will have another baby - the fourth in less than a year!

The tiny feet of baby

Wow! Life is moving so fast!

Is it because I am older, because I promise you that the older I get the faster time flies or is time truly moving this fast for everyone? I recall bringing my youngest home from the hospital in my arms such a short time ago, and soon we will be bringing home he and Mariolina's baby. Actually this will be my fourth granddaughter in less than a year but my youngest child's first baby!

Baby shower one in NY is happening tonight.

Mari and Chris are in NY visiting their family there and having a baby shower. Tomorrow morning hubby and I will pick them up at Detroit Metro and bring them home and get ready for our baby shower next week end. My dining room and kitchen are full of food, gifts, games and the like, and as I look at these items I am overwhelmed with wondering if I remembered everything and where I am going to put these items to get them to the church. I have been so busy with the preparations that my housekeeping has sadly slipped.

Who has time to clean house?

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to call on someone to help with the housecleaning? What with working every day, family, writing, and now this I could truly use housekeeper Austin services. Mari went on a job interview the other day, and will be teaching shortly after giving birth, so I can imagine that cleaning services Austin would be a wonderful shower gift. After all the mother could use a gift too. We treat them (moms) like an Eveready Bunny! We expect them to take care of baby, the house, the husband and work. Is it fair to expect women to be super moms?

Wouldn’t you love the gift of a clean house?

Moms give so much up for their babies; we need to pamper Mom too. I imagine that the gift of a clean house would be a very welcome gift. Thanks for your visit. Take care, stay healthy and God bless.

So Much to Celebrate!

The world's cutest baby!

I can remember the excitement of carrying my first child, like it was yesterday. I think every mother can. There is something so special about that first kick, when one begins to realize that there really is a little being growing within. It has been quite a while from my first born to my last grandchild, and now my youngest son, Chris and his wife are going to have their daughter in two more months. With all my children and grandchildren you would think it would be old hat but I still feel the excitement mounting.

Mariolina is in New York right now with her family, Chris joins her this weekend. She wanted to be in NY for her mother’s birthday and to enjoy the baby shower and well wishes with her and Chris’ NY family. They come back to Michigan this week end and we will prepare for our baby shower here the last week end in March.

Some of the gifts are already trickling in. It is their first child. They need everything, and it makes our hearts swell to see the outpouring of love shown by the gifts and well wishes. They are young and struggling. She has had a tough pregnancy with nonstop morning sickness the first few months, which were so bad she could not keep her job. They are living on one salary in a two salary economy and are also setting up household for the first time making things even more difficult.

We try to help when and where we can, but knowing how much they are doing without and making do, just makes us all the more grateful to those who are being generous. We want to give all her family and friends something very special, a combination birth announcement, thank you card that will reflect our appreciation and share the happiness of the moment at the same time.

I found a site online that will print your birth announcements just like you want them! You can choose your own words, font, and so forth and have complete creative license. They will even mail them for you, if you would like! I can’t wait till she gets back home to show her this! Then we will start looking at anniversary invitations because that celebration will be later this year.  It’s great to have so much to celebrate!

Thanks so much for your visit today. Take care, God bless, and stay healthy.

We walked on egg shells

My sister and I grew up in a household where angry outbursts were common and almost always followed by a beating. It didn’t take us very long to realize that this happened much more often when our father was drinking. He spiraled out of control much faster after he drank a few beers to “relax”.

My childhood experiences have made me a very strong advocate for alcohol and substance abuse counseling. Not everyone can handle drinking, and drinking should only be done in moderation. Our father grew up with an alcoholic father and was accustomed to anger and violence so I imagine he never thought twice about his behavior. I really do not believe in my heart that he meant to inflict harm, but at that time I vacillated between an intense hate and love for him.

It was a cycle that I am happy to say has stopped with my sister and I, but while physical wounds heal, emotional scars remain on the surface, waiting to inflict pain again. Those who have been in a relationship with someone who abuses alcohol or drugs can attest to their many moments of walking on eggs shells and trying to keep peace just to avoid conflict. You never totally relax. An angry voice, to this day, takes me backwards.

I love my father and grandfather, though they are no longer with us,  I wish they could have gotten healing for the emotional turmoil they dealt with daily; that which made them mistakenly seek the solace of alcohol. Some seem to think that alcoholism and drug addiction is an illness. Atlanta drug abuse rehab centers advise us that the abuse stems from other problems. It is simply a symptom of an underlying issue or issues. Many programs treat the symptom (abusing drugs or alcohol) and completely ignore the problem. This is why Atlanta alcohol rehab has a much higher success rate because they get to the core of the problem, healing the abuser not just the abuse.

If you or a loved one has a problem, they need help. Don’t you want to see them get the best help there is; one of hope and recovery?

Thanks so much for visiting me. Take care, stay healthy and God bless!

Thankful Thursday - Truthfulness

Cloudy days can be intriguing, beautiful and fun to watch, but when the truth becomes clouded, I would prefer not to be there to sift and sort it out until truth prevails.Truth should be pure and unadulterated. It should not be hard to grasp or see, but there are many facets in life and sometimes things are not the way they appear. My mother used to say "Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see."

I never thought she meant to take that literally, but sometimes it is - literal. We need to be skeptical, examine, research, pray and decide. One person I never doubt is my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He cannot tell an untruth. A lie is not in Him.

1. Do you believe the old saying my mother taught me?
2. Why or why not?

Amanda at Thursday Two Questions has a lively conversation going on and I am sure there is a lot of truth there. Let's go find out. Thanks for joining us this week. I apologize if I have not been to visit you lately. The baby shower preparations has kept me quite busy and I will catch up once it is over. Thanks for your visit. Take care, stay healthy and God bless.

Astronauts

I appreciate the guest post, Emerson Moses

My son has recently gotten in to Astronauts and Space. For career day at school, he chose to be an astronaut. He researched all about astronauts- their education requirements, day-to-day life, space missions, etc. It’s really neat to see how passionate it makes him. I want to support this new passion, and find ways to expand it. I remember hearing of “space camps” for kids, but I’m not sure where those are. That kind of thing would be perfect for him! He would love to go! Also, I looked on DirectStarTV.com to find any movies about space. The only one I could think of was “Good Morning, Vietnam,” but there are actually a lot of different films about space and space travel. We are going to have a movie night a week where we watch a film. Over the summer, we will also travel to a really special planetarium that is a couple of hours away. It has won awards, and is supposed to be one of the best planetariums in the country. He is thrilled.

Sunrise

The sun bursts through
 A sleepy night
Shining through
And shining bright
Clouds of gray
And clouds of white
Grace the sky
And please the sight.

We're planning a celebration!

Babies...they make us just want to talk silly to them. We yearn to protect and hold them. They make us get all soft and maternal or paternal. Babies bring out whatever is good, soft, tender, and gentle in us. I have been so blessed with just having had three new granddaughters this past summer and now Chris my youngest and his new wife, Mariolina are planning the birth of their daughter in just a few months.  (photo of my granddaughter, Faith)

As the excitement mounts we are looking for ways to make this more memorable for our friends and family members. I came across a site online which sells everything from booklets, bookmarks, calendars, business cards, flyers, cards, letterheads, magnets, postcards, posters and so forth. The products are quality made, quickly shipped, and would make awesome invitations or thank you cards to send to our guests. Searching through this site I looked at flyer printing, post cards and business cards.

High quality card stock is used, your cards can be shipped the very next day for a slightly higher rate, or in 2 to 4 business days for just $21.95 for 100 high quality post (or business) cards. I think they would make the most awesome thank you cards and cannot wait to talk this over with Chris and Mari. I am also looking at the business cards. I ran out a long time ago, and it is time to get some new ones. Check them out!

Never far away

Our God is never far away
You can find Him in the break of day
You can see Him in the hues of gold
As the multicolor skies unfold
