Lovely Purple Flowers

Bugle ground covering

Carpetweed ground covering

Ajuga ground covering

My friend Jeannie gave me these lovely purple flowers from her garden and I transplanted them last year. They have rewarded me with many more blooms.  The leaves even have a tinge of purple to them. They also go by the names of Bugleweed or Carpet weed in addition to the Latin name of Ajuga Reptans. Early in the season they were very close to the ground, but shortly after they sprout up with these lovely purple blooms. I had to play with the hue in photo scape to get the right shade because the camera tends to make them look blue and they are actually a deep luxurious purple.

This post linked to Shadow Shot Sunday. Thank you for your visit. Take care, stay healthy and God bless.

I've never heard them called carpetweed in the UK. Bugle is the common name here. They are lovely.
Like most purple flowers it is hard to capture the colour. I was once given a tip. The bluer they are the more shade to photograsph them by. i.e. if you photograph forget-me-nots in your own shadow you get a more accurate colour. The redder they are the more you should photographt them in sunshine. I still find I have to 'play' with the final images to get them the colour they are in real life. I think your top one is perfect.

Gorgeous purple flowers, Judy!

I want some cutting, and wonder if these flowers would be able to stay alive in my soil!
