Yellow Wood-sorrel

Oxalis acetosella

This particular flower was posted on my blog In September 2009. My grand daughter and I took the pictures. I told her that as a child my sister and I would pull off the heart shaped leaves and eat them. She tasted one. We called them "bittersweet" because of their bitter taste and she agreed with me that they had a somewhat sour taste, but she reached for another, and another...

Does your light need brightened?

Have you heard of or do you use link referral? It is a site that you can register on to gain traffic and or to find blogs on specific topics or from specific areas, for example I registered my blog under "health" but was interested in reading others on "health" but specifically curious about others that may be written in Michigan, so from time to time I looked up blogs under these two categories. If you review a few, they are generally kind enough to return the favor, but it has been so long since I even visited the Link referral site.  I gave the site to a blogger friend and she faithfully visited daily and soon had quite a following, until her computer crashed and she lost her blog, and it seems her hope of blogging too. I am not as ardent a blogger as I would like, but cannot rationalize missing family events to blog, so sometimes it gets postponed, but...

Link referral sent me a reminder the other day, so I dutifully and guiltily signed in and found a generous review awaiting me from Gary Eby, MSW. I quickly visited his blog and was intrigued about the idea of getting counseled over the telephone. This is the day of  electronics and we are doing more and more online or on the phone or cell, so it made perfect sense. After reviewing his blog I asked him how he would feel about me sharing his link and his response is copied below:

"Thank you for your interest. Feel free to share this info with your readers: I will provide a free consult; some free services on my Facebook page; and then 80 cents a minute. Peace and Light..." Gary.

The photo is borrowed from Gary Eby, MSW, so thanks, Gary for an intriguing image to contemplate on. I think the idea of counseling over the cell, or telephone may make it easier for those who:
  • have transportation issues
  • are embarrassed to be seen going into a counselor's office
  • would like to try it out for size before making a commitment
This would offer them privacy and the ability to go at their own pace. It is comforting to know that counseling is available  at a reasonable cost. Your mental and emotional health are essential to your overall well being, and you truly deserve the opportunity to feel your level best. This is not a "paid to write" ad. This is simply because I care.

We did the bunny hop in the backyard!

Bunny Collage

I took a picture, reached out to touch -

Bunny in my backyard

and it hopped!

Domestic bunny

Imagine my surprise when I go in my backyard to look at my catalpa tree and see movement out of the corner of my eye; movement of the long haired furry kind. I got to pet it several times, but never long enough to pick it up.

Hubby's Surprise

Swan at Hidden Lake Gardens

A Lake at Hidden Lake Gardens

Sitting Area at Hidden Lake Gardens

Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
Hubby called me on my cell and told me to get home right away. He has never done that before and offered no explanation. But a little bit later he surprised me  with a trip to Hidden Lake Gardens. It's run by MSU and is located in Onsted, Michigan.

Wherever did it go?

Faith at almost 10 months of age

Pink roses and red dianthus

Celosia Plume flower

I had one last Friday
I don’t know where it went
I checked back on Monday
And it was all spent
I looked in my purse
I checked in my car
I asked all I knew
It couldn’t go far
I went to the store
They had none in stock
The cashier suggested
I purchase a clock. .
A small portion was used
For household chores
A little bit more
Sitting outdoors
Eating, sleeping and worship
Came into play
Time with the grand kids
Was the high point of each day
But now that it’s over
I’ve searched high and low
Where is my week end?

Where did it go?

Thankful Thursday - Crafts

Preparing stitches to crochet the towel top

I happily write content for sponsors from time to time and one of the sponsors I had one time was Pinterest. I was given a guest post so I only had to cut and paste and did not give it much thought until the buzz was going around my job about Pinterest and it was all good. So I took a look, and I am inspired; actually I am hooked. I am pinning my photos and articles and getting pinned, but I am also reading so much there that is creative and innovative. Mari and I researched lesson plans we found on Pinterest the other day while we ate out at Dennys, because she needs to come up with a few ideas for class in a few weeks. We found plenty! You can type any idea and someone has written about it or pinned something on one of their boards.

I have created a number of boards and one of mine is "Crafty" . I have always loved being crafty, but with my family growing by leaps and bounds, working full time, and trying to make a little here and there writing, my sewing machine and crochet hooks are all but forgotten. I got the crochet hook out of hiding by request from my mom, but with a little inspiration from the many people at Pinterest, I have found so many other things I want to make. I started crocheting a cat cozy. I grow cat nip in my front lawn so it should be no problem coaxing kitty into the cozy. lol

Crocheted hanging hand towel

My mother asked me the other day to crochet tops on some of her bath towels so she can hang them in the bathroom. I took a towel to work and crocheted during my lunch break as I ate my lunch. I finished one, see? I had been thinking about placing a link in my sidebar to my craft board and updating it from time to time with new projects that I find.

Funny, while reading Icy's post earlier, I thought how funny that her mind had turned to crafts too. She is so talented but I know how hard it is to entertain a teenager, especially a boy with tons of energy!! He is very talented too. He has taken some very good pictures for her on her blog. Maybe she should set him loose on one of his own. Good luck with that Icy! lol

1. What do you wish you had more time for?

2. What would you like to learn how to do?

Angel becomes a star

Little girl with a purpose

Angel held her head high just like when Daddy had her walk with a book on her head and a smile on her face. She tried very hard not to let the imaginary book fall off.

Daddy’s new girlfriend had helped her dress pretty. She brushed her hair till it shown and applied just a little make up and some tiny pearl ear rings.  They told her that if she made a good impression on this talent scout she might become a big star like McCaulay Culkin then they wouldn’t have to turn in pop bottles to buy them food.
