Is your pain larger than you?

No child should have to live in fear!

If you are someone who awakes in the morning after having a “few too many” and cannot remember the night before, or if you are someone who has on more than one occasion disappointed or hurt the one’s you love because you were just having a “few drinks” or if you have been unable to function well enough to perform your family or work responsibilities, maybe it is time to take a closer look at your recreational drug or alcohol use; a habit you don’t want to call an addiction.

Growing up as a child in a home where one parent felt it was okay to put away a six pack while working in his shop and then come in the house and take whatever anger had been repressed throughout the day on my sister and I, I can tell you that a few drinks just to help one relax can quickly become a few drinks that make things spiral out of control. My sister and I took more than our fair share of our father’s anger; anger that spilled out into angry tirades and beatings.

Alcohol doesn’t relieve anxiety but enhances it. In order for one to truly face their inner demons they may need to undergo expert counseling like what is offered at Atlanta alcohol rehab. When we were growing up, it was considered weak to own up to emotional baggage. One was just told to “snap out of it”, which led them to find whatever means they could to temporarily cope. A substance, be it alcohol or drugs, is just a temporary fix and truly exacerbates the problem. You owe it to yourself, your family and your loved ones to get better. The pain will become larger than you if you do not address the issue and get help. Atlanta drug abuse rehab centers has a program for every need and will help you with whatever issue is creating the pain in your life, not just the addiction. I wish my father had gotten help with all my heart. If you don’t do it for yourself, do it for those you love.

Thank you for your visit today. Take care, stay healthy and God bless!

Hear, Hear! I agree with every word you said.

I was fortunate enough to come from a home where having a drink constituted one trip to the pub a week and that, primarily, for a game of darts. Dad would have a pint and half and stop there and never, ever got drunk. We were so lucky and having since come across so many people who were not I sympathise with anyone who was less fortunate.
All the best,
John

I am sorry for what happened to you and your sister, Judy!

Sometimes, one drink is too many, and getting help is the answer.
