Why didn't I see this before it happened to me?
It was a nightmare! I got home from work and went online to view my checking account balance. It was just before New Years and I had the holiday week end off. I thought I should confirm my bank balance before going to the store, but as the screen opened I saw my bank balance in red. Upon further exploration I saw a check had been written for over $1900. I don't carry that type of balance so my heart started beating fast. I knew it wasn't my check that was written against my account. I clicked on it to read it and then my computer went down so I didn't even know where the money was intended to go.
I quickly tried to log back in and could not. Every time I typed anything into the browser my computer took me elsewhere until it completely froze. After calling my step daughter to find out if it was all right for me to come over and get on her computer I grabbed my coat and purse and drove over to her home where I got online to view my bank account and find out how to report an error. I got to glimpse the check. It was made out to a mortgage company in Florida. I called my bank's 1-800 number to report a fraud and closed my checking account immediately.
Long story short, I lost my computer and had my assets frozen for a month while they investigated. I had to pay late fees and penalties for all of my accounts where I could not pay on time. I never had the closure of knowing who or how this was done. It is such a vulnerable feeling; one I hope I never go through again so when I came across this ad, (pictured) I wish I had been monitoring my identity before this happened. Maybe I wouldn't have lost my computer. Right now they are running a 50% off sale making your protection available for just $30.
