His Eye is on the Sparrow

This post linked to prompt 4 music. Mind love misery has challenged us to grab a song or music from our decade of birth and write about it. Why is it memorable? I love listening to Mahala Jackson and many other gospel artists. This song in particular touches me as it reminds me that God cares even for the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

I grew up with a mother who was very musical. She sang, played clarinet, organ and Hawaiian guitar. She brought not only her talent to her marriage but her record collection from her teenage years (she was still a teen). My father had had a strongly disciplined childhood growing up on a dairy farm. He brought with him a very strong work ethic but was full of rage. The sultry voice of Mahala Jackson often served as background for his angry outbursts and gave us something else to focus on as we attempted to go asleep.

Thank you for your visit. Take care, stay healthy and God bless.

I LOVE this song. Tonight it brings tears to my eyes. It is extra-meaningful as I watch the sorrow and devastation in Oklahoma! Thank-you for this and God bless you.
